WHAT IS
Retire United
Souris Valley United Way’s Retire United program is designed for individuals who are retired or nearing retirement who want to stay active, engaged, and connected to their community. Open to anyone age 55 and older, Retire United provides a meaningful way to give back, learn, and build friendships through volunteerism and education.
Why Join Retire United?
As a Retire United member, you will:
Make new connections while volunteering alongside other retirees and those approaching retirement
Attend quarterly educational sessions to learn about local nonprofits and community issues
See your impact firsthand by contributing to meaningful projects that support neighbors in need
Lend a hand—and receive one: You’ll help others through volunteer opportunities, and receive yardwork help at your own home during our annual Day of Caring
Be recognized at our annual awards luncheon for your contributions to the community

EDUCATION
We know that educational achievement is the most effective way to ensure success in life. Souris Valley United Way is working with schools, agencies and other community partners to ensure that our children are given every opportunity to learn and succeed.
Fact: 90% of a child’s brain is developed before their 5th Birthday.
FINANCIAL STABILITY
Souris Valley United Way and our partners help struggling families meet their immediate needs by providing a safety net: food, shelter, and utility assistance. At the same time we equip families with the tools they need to become self-sufficient.
Fact: 10.3% of people in our area live in poverty.
HEALTH
Souris Valley United Way and our community partners provide resources and support for the physical and mental well-being of individuals and families in our communities. By keeping people healthy today, we can ensure a promising future for our region.
Fact: 334 children received backpacks of food each week to prevent hunger over the weekends.
FAMILY AND COMMUNITY
Souris Valley United Way is not about one cause or issue. Everyday your dollars are providing solutions to the issues our local families and community struggle with.
Fact: 1 in 3 people are directly helped through your monetary donations.
Membership Details
Annual Fee: $50
Your membership helps support volunteer supplies and program costs—and you’re always welcome to give more if you’re able.
