FEATURED

Community Impact Story

Alex was referred to Youthworks STCAC after having run away from home. He had been away for nearly one week, even spending two nights outdoors in a park. Upon entry, he had a meal and was able to obtain clean clothing to wear. His mother contacted the Youthworks on-call worker to inquire about his wellbeing and receive recommendations about the next steps. She reported that conflict had been escalating in their home for the past few months, and even become physical at times.

It was decided that Juvenile Court intervention would be appropriate. Alex and his mother met of the North Central District Juvenile Court and determined a plan for Alex to return home and for services to immediately be put into place. Alex was released to his mother and returned home. He initiated counseling services with North Central Human Service Center, and conflict in the home has improved. Alex remains in the care of his mother today.
