Financial Stability

United Way Helps Americans Achieve Financial Stability

As many as one-third of working Americans do not earn enough money to meet their basic needs. Wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of housing, healthcare, and education and currently, 40 million Americans are working in low-paying jobs without basic health and retirement benefits.  For families walking a financial tightrope, unable to save for college, a home, or retirement, United Way is here to help.

Our Goal

Using an equitable approach to finance for people in our area the SVUW will engage in educational presentations, teach partner programs about equity verses equality and impact 50% of the people in our area over the next 5 years.

Our Strategy

To address the obstacles that prevent hard working families from getting ahead financially, we have partnered with local financial institutions such as Affinity Credit Union to share financial education on social media platforms.  We will also advance this goal through strategic partnerships with other agencis that address financial stability for individuals and families.

Over 300 United Ways and their local community partners are engaged in activities and initiatives to help build the financial stability of families in their communities.

What We're Doing

Souris Valley United Way is developing partnerships with agencies, individuals and interested stakeholders to provide education, mentoring and hands on assistance to those that struggle with financial issues.
